Summer Essentials

During the summer months when its hot and humid, the last thing you want is loads of makeup that feels heavy and starts to smudge. We of course want to look our very best, so we need to keep it fresh and minimal.

We have put together a guide on what we think should be your top summer essentials, to achieve just that !

1) Tan

While some of us are blessed to go out in the sun for 10 minutes and come back looking like a bronzed goddess, some of us come back looking like a red lobster instead !

A great base for your face, if you are wanting to use a little less makeup in summer is to start with a natural looking tan.

We just love the Eco Tan Face Tan Water to achieve this. This tan is so quick and easy to apply. In the evening before bed, after cleansing use a cotton pad and simply wipe over the entire face not going too close to the eyes and avoiding your eyebrows. Sweep down to your neck and decollatege. Thats it. Go to bed and you will wake up in the morning with a more even toned sun kissed face. This tan is also great for your skin. It contains natural hyaluronic acid to moisturise and hydrate your skin along with antioxidant properties and is sutable for all skin types !

You can apply 2-3 times a week depending on how deep you want the colour.

2) Tinted Sunscreen

We all know how important it is to apply sunscreen. So why not use a tinted one. Along with your now tanned face, this step might be all you need to provide that little bit of extra cover. Try these sunscreens by Josh Rosebrook and Skin Juice especially formulated for the face, so they also act as a moisturiser. You won't feel like applying a lot of layers when its hot, so this is a great 2 in 1 option.

3) Make Up Base

Some of you may still feel a little naked and still want a slightly heavier cover. With the two previous steps already completed we have two options which are still going to feel fresh and light.

Opt for the Lily Lolo BB Cream. BB stands for beauty balm, meaning this product falls between skincare and makeup. It contains nourishing anti ageing properties as well as mineral pigments to help blur imperfections and even skin tone. BB creams provide more coverage than tinted moisturisers.

The other option if you are still after a bit more cover is a mineral powder foundation. These feel incredibly light weight, and are the perfect finish for summer. Mineral powders are also build-able in terms of cover, so you can use as little or as much as you like. They are great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin.

We recommend the Ere Perez Calendula Powder Foundation or the Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation.

4) Colour

We recommend keeping colour simple and minimal. Ere Perez have some great 2 in 1 lip and cheek products. This is perfect if you are on holidays also, as it means less products to pack. Also Try the Herbivore Botanicals Lip Tint in Coral. This is a 2 in one lip conditioner and tint.

5) Hair

Don't forget to take care of your hair. All that sun, salt and chlorine can be extremely damaging and drying.

Try the Josh Rosebrook Enrich Hair Mask. This mask contains rich plant oils and aloe vera to really hydrate and nourish your hair. A great tip if you are going swimming is to put the mask in your hair, tie it up and leave it in. This will act as a barrier against the elements and help prevent damage in the first place.

Another hair saviour to try is the Innersense Organic Beauty Harmonic Healing Oil. This is a truly versatile oil and can be used for many areas of the body that require extra nourishment, or on skin irritations. On the hair, use it as a scalp treatment before shampooing or after your hair is dry, apply through the mid section to provide nourishment and shine.
