Your Guide to Dermal Rolling

What is dermal rolling?

Dermal rolling or microneedling is one of the most effective dermal therapies that optimises skin regeneration. It is designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body.

It involves using tiny micro needles to puncture the skin. This causes the skin to go into repair mode by stimulating collagen production.  This in turn can have many skin benefits including:

  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles

  • Smoothing uneven skin tone and pigmentation

  • Reducing the appearance of scar tissue and stretch marks

  • Increasing the skin’s natural production of collagen

  • Increases absorption of your face serums by up to 40%

This treatment is not a new treatment and has been around for years, however it was only previously available as an in salon treatment. With these tools now being available to sell to the public, you can get all the benefits of the salon treatment in the comfort of your own home, and for a fraction of the price !

Is this treatment suitable for me ?

Dermal rolling is suitable for most skin types. If you do have highly sensitive skin we recommend avoiding this treatment. Also, if you have a current acne break out please avoid rolling over the area until the acne clears. The Dermal roller is great to use on post acne scarring.

Does it hurt ?

No. You will feel a light prickling sensation as you pass the roller over your skin. The great advantage of doing this treatment at home yourself, is you control the amount of pressure you are placing on the roller. Start of light and you can increase the pressure until your comfortable. If the roller is causing pain you are pressing too hard. You will experience some redness on the skin which is very normal and to be expected. You should never see any blood drawn from your at home dermal roller treatments.

How often do I use It ?

Lonvitalite recommend rolling 2-3 times a week. If you are new to rolling or if your skin can be slightly sensitive we recommend starting with once a week or even once a fortnight to begin with. You can then slowly begin to increase frequency. Listen to your skin and find the frequency that works best for you.

What is the process ?

1. Use medical alcohol or tea tree oil mixed in water to disinfect the Microneedle Derma Roller.
2. Clean the skin and remove all makeup with a suitable cleanser, pat dry.
3. On the area you wish to treat, gently roll back and forth in each direction 5-10 times horizontally, vertically and diagonally
4. Apply appropriate serum or elixir and gently pat onto the skin until absorbed.

Note: if your skin is dry you can also apply some serum prior to rolling.

Can I use the face or body roller on fresh scars ?

The dermal roller is an excellent tool to minimise scarring. However you MUST wait until the scar is fully healed before you begin rolling over it.

What serums do I use ?

You can use any serum during this process. If you are applying the serum prior to rolling, we recommend a hydrating serum. After you finish rolling you can either apply the same serum or choose a different serum. Some of our favourite serums  are :

* Biologi BF Hydration Body Serum (this is suitable for face and body)

* Biologi Bqk Radiance Face Serums

* Biologi Bd Luminosity Face Serum

Can I share my roller with my partner ?

No ! Please do not share your roller with anyone, as you are penetrating the skin.

How do I clean my roller ?

It is extremely important that you disinfect your roller right after each use with medical alcohol or tea tree oil mixed in some water. As you are penetrating the skin this is a MUST. Once you are done be sure to store it back inside the case to keep it dust free, and to protect the head from damage.
